    The call I wasn't expecting..

My Toyota dealership just called me up with some news regarding my GTS86:

"Hey we got a notice from Toyota, stating that the waiting period has increased. It will not be arriving in Feb, and there is a chance of a possible 12 month wait"

    ...

I was not too fussed waiting 7-8 months, but a year... damn. I'm not really blaming anyone, it is what it is. I just really want my own 86.

Dang mate, that's harsh. Guessing you've gone GTS? It's a bit apples to oranges, but i was in same situation, signed up, dealer went from 3 to 4 to 6 to 7 and was heading for a year. At that point I found out that they hadn't placed my order and had been doing the same thing to everyone coming in the door. Signing them up with 3 month promises then throwing all the contracts in a pile so they wouldn't expand out their wait times in the queue. My order still hadn't been officially placed. I cracked it royal, any new contract taking more than 3 months to deliver is null and void in WA, can break it and walk away with refund.

So found a dealership that was upfront and honest, showed me the exact car I would be getting and its place in the queue, put my name on it, gave a stated delivery date and even allowed conditions in there guaranteeing delivery on-time unless theres some kinda natural disaster. Got the delivery date back down to three months, and I'm way happier about this dealership. But yer I know what your feeling, its bloody gutting, maybe make a few calls and see what options you've got.

I couldn't wait that long, I'd rather keep my eyes open for one in Australia second hand.

Yeah I will keep looking around with other dealerships when I come back from overseas. I don't mind the wait as it gives me more time to save for the car. The initial plan was to buy it outright. I don't think I would want to wait as long as a year though, so we will see what I can find on here and also my local dealerships when I come back in one months time.

@Dave - Yeah I went for the GTS. You are right, there isn't much of a difference between the two. I just went for the GTS because I was able to afford the cash for the few extras that the GTS has. I like em both, just like the GTS a little bit better

Does it absolutely have to be a GTS? that is what I would be asking myself

Either way, no matter how much I want this car, I'm just going to have to wait
