Have been wondering about this lately, JDM seems to be pushing the white, US the Red, why is the Orange being pushed so hard here? Talked to a designer mate of mine and he started waxing lyrical about red dirt, robust yet exciting colours and then I remembered why I dont talk to him about this kinda stuff. Anyways, been percolating in the back of my mind then last night I saw the original fast and the furious on TV. Btw totally the best of the series, I have no idea why 2fast2furious has the popularity is does, and if ya check out racer X, the article that inspired it all you totally get what the first movie is angling at and what the others are missing... anyways, so I'm watching the movie, and I see the hero car... coincidentally probably the last hero car that toyota have had in the western markets. (JDM has a real attachment to the AE86 from initial D... I dunno, mighta had some minor influence on this new model)
Anyways looking at the Supra Hero car I think I mighta had a moment of clarity, what do peoples think? I mean when you look at the aero kit it starts screaming Supra... And is anyone gonna do the vinyls? I know its just a matter of time till a pearl white model scores a set of fujiwara tofu delivery stickers, but I reckon the car has the shape to pull of a tribute to the supra as well.

It seems like most cars in aus come with atleast one kinda 'out there' compared to your usual white/silver/black/red/blue that nearly every car is availible in
like comodores with the burnt orange of the VT, purple of the VZ and Bright green of VE or the acid yellow/green of BA falcons
Its kinda a colour that is connected to only that car/new model
So with the orange being the most unusual colour of the 86 it seems to be the one that will trigger the most "well this is new/different looking" response. That long with the whole desert track marketing campain seems to tie in well ...
Or thats my opnion anyway,
because it is also these kinda colours that age the quickest and will look tacky in a few years Im steering well clear
According to a Subaru rep, the orange is the "hero" colour for the 86 and WRB is the colour for the BRZ. Neither will have the other maker's "hero" colour as a choice. I was going to wait for the BRZ to come out to compare but I had a bad experience with the local Subaru dealer in the past and don't wish to repeat it. It's a Tornado Grey manual GTS 86 for me.
Orange is the New BLACK!!! check out the 2012 EVO X, Mitsubishi added Orange to their color range.....it look awesome.....
because orange is a ***y colour.
and its something different compared to the usual blacks, whites and reds.

The new WRX MY12 club spec is coming in orange too I saw last night.
We have gone for an orange 86. Would have gone white, but it's the same white as our MY11 WRX (very nice colour), so couldn't have two cars the same colour.
'cos it stands out like dog's b**ls.
