My current car is black, and I love it in this colour. I think black does show dirt a bit more, but if you don't do 600km of highway driving per week, an wash it once a week it will be super clean!
Ok every time i tell someone i ordered a black GTS people say "arrrhhhh black, you will reget that".
My question is, is owning a black car really that bad. i know it is going to get dirty but the weekly car wash is something i enjoy doing.
let me know your thoughts.

I also love washing and waxing my car by hand, so black/white paint isnt an issue, and i used to live in the desert.
Dont sweat it, youll be fine! always keep a nice large mircofibre towel of quick dry-dusting if need be! (maybe whilst the car warms up in the morning?)
Thats what i used to do anyways

cheers guys, im pretty anal about a clean car just didn't want o have to wash every few days
All the people saying you will regret it are the ones that are too lazy to wash their car which is not an issue for you, so you probably will love your slick black paint![]()

I agree with the others.
It's all down to how YOU will be treating it.
It is your car after all and if you want it looking good, you'll spend the time to do it.
If not, well, that's your decision.

The only thing that worries me about the dark colours is the swil marks (look like scratches) you get from simply washing the car. They really stand out when the sun reflects off the paintwork. This can be addressed by getting a high quality glaze / paint protection treatment or doing a regular polish yourself.
Personally I am one of the lazy ones so Silver is the colour for me :-) I saw one drive past when I was on the bus the other day (must have been a Dealer Demo I reckon) and it looked sweet - so I am happy to have chosen that colour.
I've got a black Aurion now and it's fine and easy enough to clean!!
On the lazy months I just use a lazer drive through car wash (touchless, pressure spray only) and it comes out looking pristine and guess what?!? No swirl marks....
For $15 a fortnight it's a bloody dream! I'm sure you can do it cheaper yourself but sometimes I really just CBF!
My routine is usually a 'detail' done by myself every month, then 2 $15 lazer washes.. Rinse and repeatOn the 2nd week it can start to look a bit grubby, depending on the weather etc.. But I may have it easy as it's garaged at home and at work there's underground parking.
touching the car will scratch it
washing the car will scratch it
polishing the car will scratch it
people who don't use the door handle, and use the door - will scratch it
but it's a brilliant colour
metallic black hides swirls etc a bit better than straight gloss black... but gloss black is the best. :P
i've tried black polishes and everything. paid $150 just for polish for black cars and swirl remover etc.
it doesn't really work.
the only way to get rid of swirls is have the top layer of clear coat sanded off, and re applied.
but, you can look after your black and it will still look 95% of awesome. it'll look 100% to everyone else though...
i gave up being so anal with my car and just enjoyed driving it. and after 6 years of a gloss black respray, i'd bet it's still one of the best looking MA61s in the country :P
