A Toyota 86 to race in the 2013 AMC

Toyota is the talk of the town in the racing world with the new 86 that was released in Australia earlier this year. The 86, along with the Subaru BRZ, are giving a fresh look to racing scene dominated by Commodores, Falcon’s, Evo’s and STi’s.
Being a rear wheel drive four cylinder there are not many cars on the market that match in this class. The problem with this car being almost in a class of its own means it needs to find the right home to show off what it can do, and there is no place like Australia’s premier production car category, the Australian Manufactures Championship, to call home.

In 2013 the Bendigo based Pedders Racing team will be hitting the track in their all new 86 race car and Grant Phillips will be taking it to the big guns in the series.

The team will be supported by Toyota Australia but will be a standalone team working with the crew they have had in the 2012 championship.

“The whole team is excited,” said Phillips.

“We have been racing in an aging car in a lower class within the category and we now have the opportunity to take our business partners to a whole new level.

“It’s a whole new level of racing and we have high expectations of ourselves after taking out class E of the AMC in 2011 which was our first year of national competition and having already secured class E for 2012 with one more race to run next month at Sandown Raceway in the Shannons Nationals.”

The Pedders Racing Team have gained support over the past two years from sponsors and they are making the smart choice and jumping onboard as the team get their Toyota.

Phillips is a Pedders store owner, Bendigo, and as we all know the Pedders brothers are very much into motor sport. Mark Pedder is the second driver in the Honda Works team and Scott is currently the CEO of the Australian Rally Championship and a distinguished rally driver in his past.

With motor sport in the companies blood, the team are going to continue to receive sponsorship from Pedders Suspension.

Pedders have been working on developing several suspension options for the new Toyota 86 for both street and track and there is no better way to developed parts than with motor sport.

Bosch Australia have also remained with the team as have Whiteline Performance Products and the team will run on Michelin Tyres who will come onboard in 2013.

Co-driver and Bendigo local business owner Andrew Turpie from J & A Light Freight can’t wait to be racing on the world’s best performance tyre in a car that is produced by the world’s number one car manufacturer.

You can keep up to date with the team on our website Pedders Racing or you can follow us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Pedders-Racing/

We will also be making regular updates to where we are at with the build process and competition results etc right here

Here is a draft design of what we are looking at for the livery package

Any chance we'll see this turn a wheel in the 12 hour at Bathurst? Planning to take a trip and would love to see you go around?

Thanks AUmarvin, unfortunately the 86 won't be ready in time for the 12 hour for 2013, however we are aiming to have the car on the grid for the Bathurst Easter Festival of Speed. Our car arrives shortly (in about 2 weeks) so we are going to be flat out preparing the car during January and February before we start a testing and development stage and then go racing :-) We will be sure to add plenty of updates here on this page to keep everyone in the loop.

The Pedders Racing Toyota 86 arrived just before Christmas (Thanks Mr Toyota Australia what a great present )

We have gutted the interior of the car which stripped 150kg out ....... we haven't removed anything from the engine bay or under the car at this point. We are basically preparing the car for it's significant cage fitout ...... but first, it is off to Pedders Research and Development where the remote cannister (V8 Supercar) eXtreme coilovers will be fitted and tested. PS. Pedders are doing 6 versions of coilovers depending on your choice of motorsport or street cred ..... stay tuned for more on that as they are not yet released.

We are working on something very special for Toyota 86 owners and their cars when we are up at Bathurst for the Festival of Speed this Easter ..... we have confirmed our entry and we will be working with a very reputable magazine ......... STAY TUNED

Remember to check out our website .... www.cvmotorsport.net and like us on our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/home.php?re...39920052763127

in the mean time ...... here are a couple of photos of our 86 GTS

OK, just for you Thunderace .... here are some additional photos

    IMG_1167a.jpgIMG_1169a.jpgIMG_1174a.jpgIMG_1180a.jpgIMG_1206a.jpg

We will be without photos while the car is undergoing R&D at Pedders, however they will be taking plenty of photos to utilise the 86 as the basis for all fitting instructions for the 86's and BRZ with the new coilovers developed by Pedders.

We have a photographer that lives close to where the cage and fuel cell will be put together, so hopefully we can get him in to cover some of the work ......

We are using Panda Design with our livery package which is changing daily ........ so it will be interesting to see how the final package ends up ........ we do know however, that the GT86.com.au stickers will be added

As we have stated, the Pedders Racing Team will be competing at the Bathurst Festival of Speed 2013 at Easter ........ we have been working with organisers to offer something special to Toyota 86 owners (sorry to the BRZ owners, but we have an obligation to look after Toyota as one of our business partners)

As previously announced, we will be doing a feature article with a leading automotive magazine at this event ...... in conjunction with Pedders Suspension, CIMA Media and Toyota Australia and the Bathurst Motor Festival organising committee we are putting together a Pedders / Toyota 86 Drive experience.

    This event package will include:
    * Entry for vehicle, driver and one guest
    * 3 Laps of Mt Panorama behind the Safety Car during an exclusive 86 track session
    * Inclusion in Official Toyota photo shoot on main straight
    * "Pedders Toyota 86 Drive Experience" windscreen banner
    * Certificate of participation in the "Pedders Toyota 86 Drive Experience" at Bathurst. Mt Panorama.
    * Promote your dealership / club during the event - signage and promotional activities at your own cost
    * Full weekend access to the Bathurst Motor Festival event.
    * All entries will go into the draw to win a PEDDERS Coilover kit for your Toyota 86.
    * Limited to 15 cars only ....

Cars will be limited to a speed as set by CAMS regulations and the Safety Car, it will take place on Easter Saturday (time to be confirmed, however it is expected to be around 1pm).

There is a significant cost for us to be able to do this and as such there will be an entry fee ......... what do you think this would be worth? What would YOU pay for such an experience?

Cost for this drive experience will be $574, yes it is up there with price, but we are limited to just 20 cars in total, 6 places have now been taken ;-)

We would love to see those that cannot afford this price still consider turning it into a weekend away to help promote the Toyota 86 as well as the BRZ and the GT86.com.au club/forum ....... There will be a lot of interest in the cars for this weekend and we will even work on having a 2nd raffle .....
